Church Covenant
- By God’s grace, we are gathered as those who have repented and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. Having given ourselves to him and submitted to the authority of the Scriptures, we have affirmed one another as citizens of his kingdom through baptism in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and through the Lord’s Supper. Relying on his gracious aid, we do now solemnly and joyfully renew our covenant with each other. (John 1:11-13; Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Timothy 2:14-17)
- We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:1-3; Philippians 2:1-4; Colossians 3:12-15)
- We will walk together in brotherly love, exercise an affectionate care and watchfulness over each other and faithfully admonish and entreat one another as occasion may require. (Romans 12:9-16; Galatians 6:1-10; 1 Thessalonians 5:11-15)
- We will regularly attend the church’s gatherings, recognizing the priority we must place on the corporate gathering, and we will faithfully pray for one another. (Hebrews 10:24-25; Ephesians 6:18; James 5:16)
- We will endeavor to raise the children under our care, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and by a pure and loving example to seek the salvation of our family and friends. (Deuteronomy 6:1-4; 11:18-19; Matthew 28:19-20; Ephesians 6:1-4; Jude 22-23)
- We will rejoice at each others’ happiness and endeavor with tenderness and sympathy to bear each other’s burdens and sorrows. (Romans 12:15; 1 Corinthians 12:26; Galatians 6:2)
- With God’s help, we will live carefully in the world, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, and remembering that, as we have been voluntarily buried by baptism and raised again from the symbolic grave, so there is on us a special obligation now to lead a new and holy life. (Romans 6:4; 12:1-2; Philippians 2:12; 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22; Titus 2:11- 14; 1 Peter 1:14-16)
- We will work together to maintain a faithful gospel witness in our worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines. (Philippians 1:27; Jude 3)
- We will responsibly steward our spiritual gifts to the service of this church and the community at large. (Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-26; Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Peter 4:10-11)
- We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to support the ministry of the church, the expenses of the church, the needs of our neighbors, and the spread of the gospel around the world. (1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 8:1-3; 9:6-7; Galatians 6:10; 1 Timothy 5:17-18)
- If we leave this congregation, we will join another gospel-preaching church as soon as possible where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
- Above all, in all seasons and at all times, we will seek to live to the glory of Him who has called us out of darkness into his marvelous light, and we will encourage each other toward that same end (Colossians 1:11-14; Galatians 1:1-5)
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen. (2 Corinthians 13:14)
